WEDDING IN CAMBODIA

EDITORIAL COUPLE SESSION IN SIEM REAP, south east asia

STREET photography session in siem reap, cambodia

For those who have been following my work for a while, you may already know that before becoming a wedding photographer, my very first love in photography was documenting street life.

Spontaneous moments, imperfect scenes, strangers crossing paths for only a second… this is where my eye was shaped as a photographer.

Today, most stories unfolding in front of my camera are love stories.
But for this editorial couple session in Siem Reap, Cambodia, I wanted to merge those two worlds together.

The idea was simple : create an editorial-inspired couple shoot in the middle of a living, breathing city : where elegance, intimacy and real life coexist naturally.

EDItorial couple photography in asia

As a destination wedding photographer, I’m always searching for ways to create imagery that feels both cinematic and deeply authentic.

For this session in Siem Reap, Cambodia, I wanted the city itself to become part of the story.

Not just a backdrop : but a real character within the images.

Their elegant outfits almost looked out of place in the middle of an ordinary Thursday morning. Around them : scooters rushing through the streets, market stalls opening for the day, locals going about their routine, tangled electric wires, tropical heat and constant movement.

And somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, they created their own quiet bubble.

That contrast is exactly what I love in editorial couple photography.

A different approach of destination wedding

A lot of destination wedding photography focuses on landscapes, luxury venues or iconic locations.

And while Cambodia offers all of that, I wanted this session to feel more grounded in real life.

More human. More immersive.

So instead of carefully controlling every frame, we wandered through Siem Reap almost like I would during a street photography session : slowly, instinctively, always paying attention to small moments and unexpected encounters.

Little by little, the city transformed into a living backdrop and the couple naturally became part of it.

This documentary approach is something I deeply value in my work as a destination wedding photographer ; creating images that feel alive rather than overly staged.

CAPturing unscripted moments in siem reap

One of the things I loved most during this editorial couple session in Cambodia was embracing the unpredictability of the streets.

Some of my favorite moments happened completely by chance:

  • a Buddhist monk suddenly walking through the frame at the perfect second
  • locals smiling and interacting with us while we photographed
  • an impromptu meeting with the very first female tuk-tuk driver in Siem Reap, who later founded a federation supporting women drivers in Cambodia.

These spontaneous encounters are usually part of street photography.

But during this couple session, they became infused with intimacy, softness and poetry.

And honestly, that balance between documentary storytelling and editorial aesthetics is exactly what inspires me most as a wedding photographer.

why cambodia is an incredible destination for wedding ?

Cambodia has such a unique atmosphere for destination wedding and couple photography.

Beyond the temples of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap offers :

  • vibrant streets full of life
  • rich textures and colors
  • beautiful tropical light
  • authentic local interactions
  • a mix of calm intimacy and urban chaos

For couples looking for something cinematic, emotional and different from traditional wedding imagery, it’s an incredible place to create meaningful photographs.
