Cléa & Victor chose the Domaine de l'Abbaye de Maizières, near Beaune, to celebrate their wedding surrounded by family and friends.
Both passionate about wine, Burgundy felt like a particularly meaningful place to gather everyone for the weekend, in a region where wine, landscape and history have been intertwined for centuries.
Their day moved between the quiet intimacy of the preparations, a traditional church ceremony, the gardens of the estate and a long celebration back at the Abbaye.
A wedding that felt deeply rooted in its surroundings, but above all, in the people who came together to celebrate them.

GETTINg MARRIED AT ABBAYE DE MAIZIERES
Located just outside Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, the Domaine de l'Abbaye de Maizières is a historic Cistercian estate founded in 1125.
What makes the venue particularly special is that it feels much larger than a traditional French château wedding venue. The estate has preserved many of the elements that once made the abbey self-sufficient : vineyards, gardens, orchards, an ancient mill, ponds and a chapel ; all surrounded by an extensive natural landscape.
Today, these different spaces create an incredible setting for a wedding weekend, allowing each part of the celebration to unfold somewhere slightly different.

One of the things I loved most about photographing a wedding at Abbaye de Maizières was the variety of spaces within the estate.
There is the historic Palais Abbatial, the château and its intimate interiors, the gardens and surrounding nature, but also several very different reception spaces.
The Grande Halle, with its stone walls and oak structure, offers a warmer, more historic atmosphere, while the Orangerie provides a larger and brighter setting for dinner and celebrations. The estate also features impressive vaulted cellars, alongside more intimate rooms throughout the property.
From a photographic perspective, this variety is particularly interesting. A wedding can move from quiet interiors to a church ceremony, from open landscapes to cocktails outdoors, and finally into a completely different atmosphere for dinner and the party.
The place evolves with the day ; and so do the photographs.

Abbaye de Maizières sits in the heart of one of the world's most celebrated wine regions, only a short distance from Beaune and the vineyards of Meursault, Pommard and Puligny-Montrachet. The estate itself continues this connection with the land through its own vineyards and wine production.
